Privacy

The short version

• No account, no login, no cloud save.
• Game progress and settings stay in your browser's local storage.
• Page views use Umami without cookies.
• Game events go to our own endpoint and are stored in a private Cloudflare R2 bucket. Those records do not contain IP addresses or user-agent strings.
• We do not sell data and we do not run ads.

What stays in your browser

The game stores the current life (o8b.life.v1), the last life (o8b.last.v1), a short run history used for variety (o8b.run-history.v1), a random analytics ID (o8b.analytics_id), and your preferences: theme, narration, cinema mode, story images, ending recap, guide, first-life flag, early-death counter, bookmark nudge and caption corner.

Clearing site data in your browser deletes all of it. There is no account and no server-side save.

Analytics

Page views are measured by Umami at umami.trapilot.ai. It is cookie-free and does not use a cross-site identifier.

Game events are sent to our first-party endpoint /api/e. The record contains the event name, language, country code, age, a random life ID, and, for narration events, a voice line ID and on/off state. Some events also include a mode, size, network, source, step, event ID, cause, page path, or a short error message. The life ID is a random UUID stored in your browser, not an account. It lets us connect events from the same life.

We do not store IP addresses, user-agent strings, names, email addresses or precise location in analytics records. Cloudflare, as our hosting provider, may process request metadata under its own privacy policy.

Analytics records in the private R2 bucket expire after 90 days. If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, the first-party event script does not send events.

Audio

Narration is generated ahead of time with ElevenLabs and served as static files from res.1-in-8-billion.com. The site does not send your text or choices to a voice service while you play.

Sharing and feedback

Share buttons only open the network you choose. The site does not post on your behalf. The feedback link opens a Google Form; Google's privacy policy applies to what you submit there.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, and to complain to a supervisory authority. Because there are no accounts, most data is already only in your browser: clear site data to delete it.

Children

The site is written for ages 15 and up and is not directed at younger children.
